There is a current limitation for Business Plan users on WordPress.com who have activated WooCommerce themes. These users are unable to utilize WooCommerce blocks unless the WooCommerce plugin is installed on their site. This creates a confusing user experience, as the UI for unavailable blocks is not sufficiently informative or guiding.
Current Behavior
When a Business Plan user who hasn't installed the WooCommerce plugin tries to use WooCommerce blocks, they encounter a generic UI indicating the unavailability of these blocks. This UI lacks clear guidance on how to resolve the issue. An example of the current UI is shown below:
Possible Solutions
This could be achieved through one or both of the following methods:
Updating the UI Copy: Modify the text in the UI for unavailable blocks to be more specific and instructive. For instance, the message could clearly state the requirement for the WooCommerce plugin and offer a direct suggestion or action to remedy the situation.
Adding a Notice with Actionable Steps: Implement a notice that explicitly informs the user of the need to install the WooCommerce plugin to access advanced blocks. e.g.,
It'd be nice to change the UI only if those blocks exist.
Acceptance Criteria
Users can easily find how to utilize all WooCommerce blocks.
