💥 Upcoming breaking change

  • Our next major launcher release will use a newer version of Electron, thus removing support for Windows 7-8.1 and macOS 10.13-10.14
    • You will have to upgrade to Windows 10+, macOS 10.15 (Catalina)+ or move to Linux to keep playing
    • Linux support will be unaffected by this update (2018+)

🗃 Backend

  • Added native ARM64 support for both macOS and Linux (in the launcher and the game itself)
    • This change should boost performance on Apple Silicon Macs and add support for ARM64 devices (like the Raspberry Pi) on Linux
  • Upgraded JRE to 8u401 (8u111 is now unsupported)
  • The JRE will now be redownloaded after a launcher update (unless you're using your own JRE)
  • The game downloader will no longer attempt to download or cache Mojang’s metadata JSONs
  • Fixed GPU info reporting in the log file

🖥️ UI

  • The settings page will now show Unknown instead of Loading… when unable to detect a GPU
