From the inaugural conference in 2009, the annual R/Finance conference in Chicago has become the primary meeting for academics and practitioners interested in using R in Finance. Participants from academia and industry mingle for two days to exchange ideas about current research, best practices and applications.

The central mission of the R Consortium is to work with and provide support to the R Foundation and key organizations and groups developing, maintaining, distributing and using R software.
**Survey on open source Package Licensing:** The most popular license used among respondents is GPL-3 at 35% with GPL-2|GPL-3 a close second at 34%, GPL-2 next at 24%, and MIT at 21%.
