Releases: Eclipse-Community/r3dfox
Release v127.0rc
The first release of 127 based r3dfox. Since 127 is still technically beta, this is considered a RC release. This is also somewhat in progress.
Base 7 SP1, and RTM support is back! If you're using RTM, you need to install the VC++ 2019/2022 redistributable, and copy the appropriate files from the r3dfox-7-RTM-fix.7z to the r3dfox installation directory, and it should work.
I think the only other change since 126.0.1 is the fullscreen transition fix. (Thanks @bbc-chi)
Oh I almost forgot, it should have Aero on 10 by default if you have some sort of Aero thing. Not sure how the compatibility is though.
Since it's not a full stable release, it's x64 only.
Haven't tested on XP (extended kernel) nor have I extensively stability tested. I have started to test on Vista (Extended Kernel) again though, and it seems to work fine enough there.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v126.0.1
The portable builds are fully portable, the profile directory is inside the browser folder. It does not touch appdata at all.
Changes on top of the previous 126.0-2 build:
Improved optimizations.
Fixed non-native menu issues (thanks @i486)
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v126.0-2
The portable builds are fully portable, the profile directory is inside the browser folder. It does not touch appdata at all.
Changes on top of the previous 126.0 build:
Menus are no longer borked on 7 without DWM.
Scrollbar style and theme can be changed in preferences.
New about:config is accessible via about:confignew, classic about:config is still default.
Various CSS issues should be fixed now. (most notably there being no fog on 7 with system theme applied)
SERP telemetry is disabled.
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v126.0
Normally I would make new major versions pre-release builds however I am late and it seem fine in testing idk.
Changes on top of the previous 125.0.3 build:
Classic (better) about:config page (it looks scuffed sorry)
Scrollbar no longer sticks out like a sore thumb on Discord
More stuff toggleable with native preference (no new options sorry)
EventSetInformation is a dependency again because the browser is broken on update points without it anyways
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v125.0.3
The portable builds are fully portable, the profile directory is inside the browser folder. It does not touch appdata at all.
Changes on top of the previous 125.0.2-2 build:
Scrollbar supposedly looks better idk nara did it so I did it.
Menu list text is more accurate.
Better private browsing tint for classic theme, showing the theme colors.
Option to force enable caption bar transparency.
JPEG XL transparency and animations work now.
Browser should register with JXL files if default.
Red gradient private browsing background is toggleable with r3dfox customizations toggle.
Private browsing advertisements should be removed now.
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Old test builds
These were used in recreation r3dfox with Aero from 117. These have no branding or optimizations and are just meant for testing. r3dfox 124 releases are for testing CPU tuning settings. ztune should be equal to release 124 but without PGO.
Release v125.0.2-2
The portable builds are fully portable, the profile directory is inside the browser folder. It does not touch appdata at all.
Changes on top of the previous 125.0.2 build:
Aero fog is adjustable in settings, with normal intensity, half intensity, and off.
Theme changes like red tinted private window caption bar are able to be turned on/off in settings.
Native style elements are able to be turned on/off in settings.
Native style tooltips and bookmark menus can be disabled now with the same settings mentioned above
EventSetInformation dependency should be gone.
Separate default search engine for private mode option is available now.
Translations popup does not appear anymore. It is still unconfigurable outside of about:config.
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v125.0.2
Note: I have no idea why Mozilla bumped the version to 125.0.2 with no functional difference in the stable repo. This is the exact same as 125.0.1.
I finally have a 125 release that I consider stable and complete enough to make a proper release for. This means it also includes an x86 build and now portable builds. The portable builds don't have any external executables or anything weird. They're just portable with the profile in the browser folder. You can also turn the installer version portable by adding pmprt.mod in r3dfox\browser if you wish too. The portable builds are just packaged as a .7z with that file already there.
Changes on top of the previous 125rc builds:
Settings menus finally are colored right, you can read them now.
about:config warning and extension signature checking disabled by default.
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
Release v125rc3
It's probably stable and featured enough to be full release, however I am too tired to wait for a PGO build. If you want the absolute best performance, use the previous build.
Classic gradient for readable text and icons was fixed. This was apparently broken in 115 ESR and something in 125 partially fixed it somehow.
Lightweight themes coloring tab bar should* work now.
Bookmarks menus are now native(ish), the weird border has been removed.
Text boxes looking off is fixed.
JPEG XL is enabled by default.
More telemetry removed.
More branding adjustments.
Install/uninstall ping should be removed.
Uninstaller no longer asks for telemetry.
GPU acceleration in VM should work now assuming it meets all other prerequisites.
Release v125.0rc2
I wasn't going to make this a release and instead wait until 125 official launch and a few other changes. However I forgot to disable PGO, and since I have it, I figured I might as well release it.
This release fixes the listbox dropdown icon having no background.
Haven't tested on XP/Vista (extended kernel) nor have I stability tested.
Please let me know what bugs or issues you encounter with it.
