In soil ecology, some organisms feeding on microorganisms are also considered as predators.
I suggest moving predator as a subclass of heterotroph, and maybe adding 'animal predator' as both a subclass of predator and carnivore.

Preferred term label

Predator

Synonyms

(e.g., Absent spleen)

Textual definition

A heterotroph that actively captures and consumes other consumers, causing their immediate or imminent death

Suggested parent term

heterotroph
