Japanese Language Learning Resource List

General Lists / Guides:

  1. Donkuri - Kuri's immersion based learning hub. - Donkuri Updated Resources - Check the link title.
  2. Doth's Resources - Resources used by a person native of a non Kanji language who passed JLPT N1 by the immersion method.
  3. Jazzy's Guide - Same as above, but other person.
  4. List of Immersion Groups - I do recommed The Moe Way if you have interest In Japanese pop culture.

  1. 日本語図書館 - Mostly good scans of mostly good paid educational resources. Sorted by me, updated in : 06/29/2024
  2. EPWING MDX GoldenDict Yomichan Kotobank Monokakido - Dictionary Packs, (The last two ones only work at apple devices, at this commit date - also Kotobank and Monokakido have bilingual dictionaries in languages other than English).
  3. Textbooks and JLPT Preparation - More options, but slower than my レフラの日本語図書館 collection link.

Vocabulary:

  1. Jitendex - Improved JMDICT (Vocabulary Dictionary).
  2. Kanji Homophone (Words) Explanations In English. - Self-explanatory.

Kanji:

  1. Jitenon - The best Kanji dictionary - Better than KANJIDICT.
  2. Learn Kanji By Writing. - Self-explanatory.

Grammar:

Note if you don't understand Japanese defitions clearly you may check my educational pack or google (grammar point) + grammar in google.

  1. Tofugu Grammar - Basic grammar In English.
  2. Imabi - Colossal and nearly everyday evolving Japanese Grammar In English.
  3. Edewakaru Grammar - Grammar explanations with drawings (Chat GPT translations may seem reasonable).
  4. Mainichi-nonbiri - Trilingual JP-CH-EN Grammar, useful for counterchecks and non JLPT grammar.
  5. Japanese With Anime - Casual non textbook grammar.
  6. Maggie Sensei - Also casual non textbook grammar.
  7. Kokugo Bunpo Japanese grammar as taught In Japanese schools - There is a scan of it in book form in my "日本語図書館 pack".
  8. Pothos Blue - Apparently a 接続詞 (conjunction) geek.
  9. Niwa Saburoo's Refference - Somewhat difficult to understand, but useful grammar outline in Japanese, has linguistics lingo.
  10. Koten Bunpo Same as Kokugo Bunpo, but for Kobun (Classical Japanese).

Reading - My 図書館 pack has reading material worth until the N4:

  1. YomuJP - Not free anymore reading by JLPT levels with audio, but great transition from textbooks (if you use them) to real world Japanese.
  2. Matcha / Easy Version - Tourism in Japan related magazine.
  3. Natively - User votation based JLPT aproximation of native content.
  4. Web-Japan Reading and watching material about Japanese culture and life, in various languages (Gov sponsored, so, take with a grain of salt).

Listening - My 図書館 pack has listening material worth until the N4:

  1. PodcastRepublic - Change the country to Japan and search keywords about stuff you would enjoy.
  2. Tofugu Beginners | Intermediate - Podcasts Recomemndations by Tofugu.
