A looming pillar of darkness blocks out much of the sky to the west, though a few moments of careful observation resolve the shape into that of a large tree. The tall grasses, now cloaked by shadow, give the ground a false appearance of being uneven and treacherous.

Directly to the west, a pin oak tree rises proudly from the carpet of grass, making all smaller plants look miniature by comparison. A scattering of tiny acorns has escaped the looming shadow of its parent but they have yet to make their way into the ground and begin to challenge the great oak's supremacy.
