The purpose of the GCAM-USA State Applications Community of Practice is to facilitate dialog, cooperation, and knowledge transfer across the model's growing user community.
The GCAM_USA State Applications Community of Practice steering committee (consisting of Alicia Zhao and George Mel of the Univ. of MD, Gil Grodzinsky of the State of GA, Wei Peng of Princeton Univ., Zac Adelman of LADCO, and Dan Loughlin of the USEPA – Thank you to volunteering!) met in January to plan out Community activities.
With so many new users of GCAM-USA, we opted to start with monthly Community meetings… 4 PM on the 4th Thursday of the Month (with the frequency to be revisited later this year). In each meeting, a Community member will share an application or development project involving GCAM-USA. There will also be an opportunity for Community members to share their own brief updates.
Our first presentation (4 PM, 2/22) will be by the Alicia Zhao of the Univ. of Maryland’s Center for Global Sustainability (CGS). She’ll be summarizing CGS’s Maryland Climate Pathway Report, which CGS developed using GCAM-USA.
If you would like to be on the Community of Practice email list or have ideas for future meeting topics, please feel free to send those to Dan Loughlin (Loughlin.Dan@epa.gov).
