This game jam, co-organized by the Initiative for Media Innovation (IMI) and InForm, will focus on the theme of information. Key topics could include:
- Fact-checking
- Combating deepfakes
- Promoting digital literacy
- Enhancing transparency in media
Teams will have 24 hours to design and prototype a game that addresses one or more of these critical topics. The game jam will be guided by a video game designer, a journalist, and other experts from the IT industry.
- 17:00: Check-in of participants in BC 420
- 17:10: Welcome from IMI and EPFL
- 17:20: Introduction of the theme by InForm
- 17:35: Showcase of games created during ISART Digital's GameWeek
- 17:50: Presentation of the game jam and the challenge by GameLab UNIL-EPFL
- 18:05: Creation of teams (max. 5 people per team)
- 18:15: Start of the game jam, moderated by LauzHack
- 19:30 & 21:00: 🍕 in BC 410
- 22:30: Closing of the working space. You are free to work elsewhere/remotely.
- 8:30: Breakfast in BC 410
- 12:00: Lunch in BC 410
- 17:00: Final bell and team assembly in room BC 420
- 17:10: Project pitches by each team
- 18:00: Jury deliberation to select the top 3 games
- 18:30: Awards ceremony
- 18:50 onwards: Aperitif dinner and celebration in BC 410
Free food and drinks will be provided throughout the event!
The event concludes with a final pitch session where 3 winners will be selected and awarded exciting prizes such as CHF 3,000 worth of gaming gear, game keys, and more!
In addition, video game designer Lucie Robert will be present at various times to guide the teams.
Teams can consist of up to 5 members. Please indicate your team in the team formation document. You can also use this document to search for teams that have spots, or post an idea that you may have to find teammates!
All game prototypes should be submitted via DevPost by the end of the Game Jam. Submissions should include:
- A brief description of the game and its relevance to the theme
- A demo or video showcasing the game
- Link to GitHub repository (or equivalent) containing the codebase
Make sure your team is up-to-date on the team formation document.
To be eligible for prizes, each team must present their game in a 3-minute pitch session to the jury on Saturday afternoon.
Real-time updates and event communication will be managed through our Discord server to stay updated on event announcements, ask questions, and coordinate with your team. On Luma, you should have received an invite to the #gamejam-sep2024 channel. If you don't see it, message "Eric (Organizer)" on Discord.

Only work done during Game Jam will be considered (and should be made explicit) for the project evaluation.
