Coal Purity

Coal purity is mainly used when crafting. However, it also impacts the burn time and pollution generated when burning it.

• Mixed

• Unpure

Steel Production

Mixing 50% Coal and 50% Iron can produce steel.
The quality of the resources used will determine the output quality produced.

Coal Torches

Coal Torches provide a light source and over time a small bit of pollution around the torch. Torches require refueling but can last a long time depending on the purity of the coal used.

Pollution

When coal is burned, natural blocks around the source can cause pollution variations. The biome also is updated to Regular Pollution which can be cleaned up using purifiers. Polluted natural blocks don't spread but can't be converted back to regular blocks meaning it's important to not have things like dirt or sand near torches.
