Simulating a lab scale MHK turbine #2482

Hello,

I am trying to simulate a lab-scale MHK turbine, which I have Cl and Cd data for, but the Cp values I am getting out are lower than I would expect. I have checked that the airfoil data is correct. I have also tried increasing the number of blade sections, especially near the tip of the blade, but the Cp is still low. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on what might be wrong. I've attached the aerodyn file
LU_AeroDyn15.txt as a start. If someone would like to look at some other files let me know.

Thanks

Dear @KevinWyckoff1,

Well, I don't see anything obviously wrong with your AeroDyn input file. It is difficult to guess why the Cp is lower than you are expecting. You could first try simplifying your model. In AeroDyn, this would mean switching from DBEMT to BEMT (WakeMod = 1). You haven't said what structural or control features you are using, but I would first try simulating with a fixed rotor speed and fixed pitch angle by disabling the generator degree of freedom in ElastoDyn (GenDOF = FALSE), and disable all other structural DOFs as well (disable blade, tower, yaw, drivetrain DOFs).

Best regards,
