Short term rentals (STR) come with many different requirements.
Some have a direct door to the street, others are in buildings where you cannot touch/add equipment on building doors, ...
Also the guests of the short term rentals may not be able to just use a keypad, neither should they have to download apps.
Currently the guests may need to use a keypad or an app, which does not serve all cases.
Currently the guests may not be able to open the building door for building where you are not allowed to change the common areas.
Proposed Change
So, I'd like to suggest that switchbot would consider having a link to a webapp for a guest (of a short term rental).
How would this work:
1 - I would create timed keys for my guests with dates and times, let's say 20-October at 15:00 to 25-October at 11:00.
1.1 - SwitchBot would create a secure link that would directly open a webapp page specifically for my lock with those keys already configured
2 - I would share that link with my guests
3 - The guest would not need to download any app, just press the link and the page with the locks and timed keys would already be shown
3.1 - During their stay, they would be able to use the link and open the doors (without any apps / keypads / physical keys)
I would also complement this with an additional and related suggestion for locks in apartments to also be able to open the building door.
Most of the times, changes to the common parts of the building are not allowed (or even desired).
But SwitchBot now has the new SwitchBot Relay Switch which could be connected to the intercom inside the apartment.
This way, there would be no need to change any common parts.
Combining both ideas, the webapp should be able to open both the building door as well as the apartment door.
Note: This is why I mentioned "keys" (plural) in the above suggestion.
