The current stock airbrake (A.I.R.B.R.A.K.E.S) is the only one of it's kind in the game, however it has a lot of issues that need a bit of tweaking.
One of the more noticeable issues with the stock airbrake is it's affection to overheat.
Even with it's max temp. of 2400k, it's usually one of the first parts to go during reentry due to it's large size and it's role as a airbrake.
Speaking of size the stock airbrake is HUGE making it difficult to use on smaller craft, not to mention the airbrake is curved for the 2.5 meter parts.
The following is a list of idea's I've thought up to fix the issues I have mentioned along with some other ideas:
The option to add ablative material to stock airbrake.
The option to change the proportions of stock airbrake.
Add clones of the stock airbrake with a different curve for 1.25m, 3.75m, 5m, and flat parts/wings.
Grid fins.
expanding airbrakes/airbrakes that become larger when deployed.
Airbrakes that generate lift.
