Silicon Labs Amazon Sidewalk Release Note

Release 2.2.1

(release date 2024-10-24)

SiSDK 2024.6.2 - Amazon Sidewalk SDK 1.17.0

New Features/Improvements

Silicon Labs Extension

  • New Sidewalk Empty sample application
  • New Sidewalk Qualification sample application
  • Sidewalk component dependencies are cleared.
  • PDP project for xg26 platform is available in Simplicity Studio
  • Adding Sx1262 board support for xg26 boards

Supported Toolchain

Known issues

  • [47374] - Message duplicate error during FFN: <error> msg dup: xxxxxxxxx (xxx). Device recovers in next FFN session.

Sidewalk Assistant Known issues

  • The manufacturing page is never detected on the device regardless of one was flashed or not. A temporary fix was found on this issue. If you have more than one "Sidewalk Assistant" adapter pack installed, remove the duplicate to only keep one.

  • Updated logging functionality to provide the option to choose between RTT and UART logging methods.
  • Bugfixes
    • [1328333] Sometimes ACK missed during SX1262 FSK transmission: Workaround applied in the SWI implementation. The MCU clock frequency is restored to HFXO before processing the SWI ISR. This is achieved by adding an EM1 requirement before processing the SWI ISR and removing the EM1 requirement after processing the SWI ISR.
    • [1322806] Sidewalk compomnent does not pull the necessary dependencies
    • [1334064] Sidewalk app uplink thought Button Press (BP1) do not work

Known issues

  • [1309603] Slow FSK uplink on xg28 if autoconnect mode is enabled.
  • [47374] - Message duplicate error during FFN: <error> msg dup: xxxxxxxxx (xxx). Device recovers in next FFN session.

Sidewalk Assistant Known issues

  • [1174] - On KG100S, we see errors related to missing acknowledge tx_st:-6 with the CLI application. However, the stack recovers after some time.

Known issues

  • [1148] - In CSS, if the gateway is not available, endpoint does not exponentially backoff for time_sync request and sends a new time_sync request every 30secs forever. Workaround in place in application code, to stop time sync after timeout.
  • [1253713] - Cloudformation could not be deployed due to S3 bucket resource name was fixed. It is solved via generation of the S3 bucket name based on the AWs stackid.
  • [1174] - On KG100S, we see errors related to missing acknowledge tx_st:-6 with the CLI application. However, the stack recovers after some time.
  • [47374] - Message duplicate error during FFN: <error> msg dup: xxxxxxxxx (xxx). Device recovers in next FFN session.

Sidewalk Assistant Known issues

  • Sidewalk Assistant does not generate the manufacturing page on Windows.
  • Removed the Application tab in the Sidewalk Assistant.
  • Sidewalk Assistant allows underscores in cloud formation stack name, however this is not accepted by AWS.
  • Sidewalk Assistant is not able to detect AWS credentials if it is not in the default AWS profile.
  • On MAC OS with Sidewalk Assistant, changing the Cloud Formation name on the GUI will not change it in the cloud.

⚠ WARNING ⚠: NVM3 organisation changed, breaking backward compatibility. Manufacturing pages should be re-generated and flashed again.
