NSW-ACT School Fonts

Students in New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory learn Foundation Print from years 1 to 2 and Beginner Cursive from year 3.

This font includes:

Completed Name Description
Foundation Manuscript a simple sloped print for years 1 and 2
Foundation Outline an outlined version of manuscript (with or without arrows)
Foundation Dotted a dotted version of manuscript for tracing letters
Foundation PreCursive transitional joining letter alternates for year 3
Foundation Cursive fully joined letters for years 4+
Foundation Small Caps decorative variation for heading styles & emphasis etc

Using OpenType Features

To access alternate glyphs in Adobe InDesign or Illustrator, choose Window > Type & Tables > Glyphs.

In MS Word choose Format > Font, then in the font panel, click the Advanced tab. Choose between 1 to 3 Stylistic sets, or use together with contextual alternates and ligatures options for other variations.

In Photoshop, choose Window > Glyphs. In the panel that opens, click Show menu and choose Alternates for Selection. Double-click an alternate's thumbnail to swap them out.

In Pages app (Mac only) click Format > Font > Show Fonts, then from the Fonts panel click the burger menu and choose Typography.


Future Development

Outline, Outline with arrows and Dotted variations are currently under way, along with joined cursive. Watch the table above for progress indicators - green checkmarks will appear once the font family has been imported to Google Workspace.

Repository Layout

This font repository structure is inspired by Unified Font Repository v0.3, modified for the Google Fonts workflow.
