The table of contents is hidden by default when loading the website (see image below).
Whilst the table of contents is hidden, the subheadings are still 'selectable' even though the dropdown is not down.
I always find dropdowns useful, so I will usually prefer to keep them in their 'dropped down' states. It was somewhat frustrating accidentally clicking on what I thought was whitespace, but then clicking and moving to a different section of the website.
This is one of my first GitHub Issues, so I apologies if the structure/explanation is poor. Happy to try to elaborate further! Thanks for the tutorial, very useful regardless.

Hi @johann-wagner! My sincerest apologies, I was unfortunately not watching this repo and never got notified of your issue (and despite spending a fair amount of time looking at these materials, I somehow looked past this issue!).
I truthfully do not know why the TOC is collapsing -- it's not a behavior that I can replicate on any other quarto doc that I've created, and I would also prefer it to always be expanded (as in this quarto doc). I had noticed the strange behavior you've described (clicking whitespace jumps you to the section, as if you had clicked on a TOC item -- so annoying!) a while back now, but as of now, it doesn't seem to be an issue for me. I'm curious if you're still experiencing it?
Regardless, I'll leave this issue open and update here if I figure out a way to have a permanently dropped down :)
