What did you expect to happen?

It would be nice to have recently typed commands available in the command bar

What happened instead?

No previous commands are listed

It seemed like we should be able to do it because we do something similar for :reg, however unfortunately we can't because you cannot enter something that is new, it has to either be from the displayed list
