Describe the bug
The Code Editor doesn't show html entities linke ­

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to Hello World Post
  2. Add a title block
  3. type something and stwich to code editor
  4. add this html code ­ in a long word
  5. wait some seconds, the html disappears and then insert again and again.
  6. Check the output on the front-end

Expected behavior
The code editor shows and allows to delete html entities like ­

  • OS: Windows 10
  • Browser Chrome Version 72.0.3626.14
  • Version Gutenberg 4.6.1
  • Same behavior in WP 5.0.1

update: same behavior in 4.7.0

It seems like the block serialization is stripping the ­ character, this seems like a bug.

still an issue with 6.6.1, shy is not visible in the frontend
