I'm not sure this is an editor or core bug (if it's core I'm happy to report there). When I insert an image block and then go on to edit it, when I go back to the editor the old version of the image is still there - none of the edits are reflected. Closing the editor doesn't help either - when I save, exit editor, then go back to edit again the image is still the old, pre-edits version. The only thing that seemed to help, was to remove the image and insert it again from the media library. I know this sounds pretty complicated, so I made a video of the issue:

A similar issue has been reported in #16977 but I'm not 100% sure it's the same thing.

To reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Add a new post or a page.
  2. Add an image block and upload a new image.
  3. Select the block, and click Replace > Open Media Library in the toolbar.
  4. In the Media Library click on "Edit image" on the right.
  5. Edit image - flip, rotate, or crop. Save changes. Back in Media Library modal click "Select" in the bottom right corner.
  6. Notice how edits made to the image are not reflected in the editor.
  7. Save post draft and exit editor, then open up the post again. Note that the old version of the image is still there.

Expected behavior
I expected that the edits would immediately be reflected in the editor.

Editor version (please complete the following information):

  • WordPress version: 5.5.1
  • Gutenberg - default

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: mac OS Catalina 10.15.6
  • Browser Chrome 85.0

Testing with WordPress 5.7 beta 1 and Twenty Twenty One.
Editing an image in the media library as you mentioned above and adding the image back into the Gutenberg screen shows the image before it was edited.

Seems like a bug to me.

I can still replicate this:

WP version 6.0.1

Gutenberg 13.8.1

Any news on this? I've had this happen a few times on recent builds.
