I'd like to find a way of capturing these small "long hanging fruit" type enhancements. Considering adding a section to the Tracking Issue with "Quick wins". Then the team can pick from these as they tackle other more complex problems. Also these would be great candidates for "Good first issue" for new Nav block contributors. What do you think? |
Thank you @getdave! Do you think we could use [Good First Issue] as a way to track these? Is it better to comment on the tracking issue and have them added to a separate section? |
Hi all! New contributor here. I can take this on 🙂 |
Hi @mrfoxtalbot, I'm looking for clarification on this line: "If you previously created a menu in a classic theme, you’ll have the option to import it later." Does this mean that users will have the option to import menu in a later release of Gutenberg? If so, I would modify the line to be the following: "If you previously created a menu in a classic theme, you’ll have the option to import it in a later version of the Gutenberg editor." Let me know what you think! |
Hey @artemiomorales .
No. It means that, once the "Page List" block is converted to an "Editable menu", the user will be able to assign any existing menu (created via a classic theme) to that space, as seen below: Would this make sense? |
Yes, that makes sense! I've updated the copy to be the following and created a pull request:

Thank you @artemiomorales! |
What problem does this address?
When we select a Page List block in the navigation message and click on "Edit", we will be prompted with the following message:
Screen.Capture.on.2022-09-30.at.16-04-58.mp4
This message does not explain where the current menu comes from and could be clearer in general. It also lacks a link to the docs for more information.
What is your proposed solution?
Let's provide a clearer message that provides more context and includes a link to the support docs. Something long these lines:
