Feature request: Support import of Google Authenticator's new export feature #675

Since May 2020, Google Authenticator offers an "Export" feature which collects all of the OTP secrets into a small number of QR codes. These codes can be scanned to import all secrets onto a new device. I would like to be able to move all of my OTPs to my Yubikey using this feature.

The Aegis team has implemented import for this new format and documented the format a bit on their blog.

Hi,
And thanks for the report and for letting us know about this.
We will consider this feature for future releases.

@FractalMimz Nothing has been decided on this feature yet. I will let you know once that changes.

So Long time since this Feature is out now. But no news from yubikey. That is sad.

@SyntaxPolice Would you be able to make an offline tool that scan the Google's export QR code and provide a new QR code for each website (List it like QR1 = NameSite1, QR2 = NameSite2 etc) ? This way, we would be able to simply scan the "new" QR code to import it to yubikey ! It's might allreaddy exist, if you know one, post it here.

@fdennis Still in same state ?

@Eric1212 Yes good alternative, give acces to the manual key too. Just have a yubikey burned and I must stop and reactive all account to have 2 same yubikey in that rare broken or lost problem.

Regarding broken and lost yubikey, i would always suggest using 3 yubikey. 1 with you, 1 at home and 1 at an other place (Bank, familiy member as dad or mom home, job office.).

I would say this is feasible, but I don't know of anyone who has done it.

Hum, let's start a crowdfunding to motivate programmers😏.

No crowdfunding needed, there are several projects available which support the mentioned features:

So, is this going to be implemented or not? It is a huge QOL improvement

I encounter this problem regularly. The task has been open since 2020, hey, Yubikey, are you serious? Make this important feature

This feature is on our roadmap for the next version of the app (beta available here: https://www.yubico.com/blog/introducing-yubico-authenticator-6-for-desktop/). We aim to release version 6 before the end of this year. This feature will unfortunately not make it in for that, but we plan to add support in a subsequent minor version.

Yubico Authenticator 6.0 has now been released and uses a new codebase. As such, this issue has been marked with the legacy label, and will be automatically closed in 7 days. If this issue is still relevant to Yubico Authenticator 6, please comment on the issue saying so, and it will be kept open (or be re-opened). Sorry for the inconvenience!

Are you aware if a tutorial for importing from the google authenticator's QR code will be available ?

Any news on this feature ?

This is now available in 6.3.0. Just scan a Google Authenticator migration code using the QR scanner in the app.
