VM user after image creation

Dear all,

I have some questions regarding the user for the VMs that I built from this image. E.g. the GitHub Hosted runners connect the VM with a user called runner.

When I create the VM from the image, I can of course create it with the user runner, but this user then is missing some group memberships, e.g. it would not be part of the docker group. This would result in the need to prefix any docker command with sudo.

I therefore wonder if you can tell me, how you are handling this issue. I was thinking in adding a script during the image generation that creates the user and adds it to the docker group. How are you solving this issue?
