I installed the Sprint Brackets 27 MacOS version and liked it a lot, I was installing and testing the extensions available up to the time the Brackets started giving problems.

And right now I can no longer uninstall or install any extension, the error when I try to install it

Installation failed.
Unknown internal error.

I've tried removing everything that is like but whenever I install back with the same problem

Brackets Sprint 29 is available, so please upgrade and try again. We've made some improvements to the Extension Manager, including a new Registry, so hopefully this problem is fixed. Let us know how it goes. Thanks.

But the problem started in version 29, but I believe the problem has been to some extent, but could not identify which.

Now the Mac can not I delete everything and install Brackets like a new installation, it always brings this problem.

I've tried uninstalling the Terminal excluding caches, and all extensions folder Brackets.

https://github.com/adobe/brackets/wiki/Cache-Folder

This article describes where to find the cache folder for your OS. It will end with brackets/cef_data.

Extensions are installed in a parallel folder: brackets/extensions.

With Brackets shutdown, delete the entire brackets folder, then restart Brackets.

@cadupedroni Also, can you check the console for errors? (Select Debug > Show Developer Tools and look in the console tab). "Unknown internal error" usually indicates some kind of exception was thrown...

I had already found the cache folder removed all I found the Brackets, in order to install again like a clean install, but the error persists no use, I can not install any extension.

I tried running the Developer Tools but it opens a page, follow the link
http://localhost:9234/devtools/devtools.html?ws=localhost:9234/devtools/page/b549495fea5e645d7b0e13b3d5616ca3
Oops! Google Chrome could not find localhost:9234

@cadupedroni What happens if you just open http://localhost:9234 while Brackets is running? If even that shows no response, you may have some sort of firewall / proxy / network security software that is blocking local ports. If so, that could also explains why you can't install any extensions -- see #4688 for a similar issue. It might also cause trouble for other Brackets features like Live Preview.

Hi, I've experiencing a similar failure. ie. Can't install any extensions.
Differences though: running Ubuntu Linux, and haven't played with anything else then sprint 29.

I've deleted ~/.Brackets and restarted.
When opening up localhost:9234 I see 3 errors:

[Extension] Error -- could not open native directory: /home/mpo/.Brackets/extensions/user
[StaticServer] Timed out while trying to connect to node
[Extension] Error -- failed initExtension for StaticServer

[1st error seems irrelevant]
During this run, the ~/.Brackets was created, so when I close and start-up again I only get 2 messages any more (the first one no longer being relevant)

[2nd error doesn't say much]
I do have node on my system (and in the path)
$ node -v
v0.10.16

but that doesn't seem to be enough?

[3rd error doesn't ring a bell]
But sure sounds like the unavailable static server is the cullprit for not having a functional extension manager?

Any help or advise is welcome. I'll be glad to perform further checks and info about my environment.

@marc-portier Installing extensions doesn't work for Linux in Sprint 29, but should be fixed in Sprint 30, which should be released soon.

@TomMalbran ah, missed that, sorry for the noise then

@marc-portier You can download the sprint 30 build now. It will fix your extension installation issue on linux.

@augusto1982 - is this happening with every extension, or only with one or two of them? In either case, please file a new bug and list the extensions you've had trouble with, as well as the exact error it gives you. Thanks.

Same here. Can't install any extensions. I tried almost all extensions on "extensions" tab. I'm getting "Installation failed. Unknown internal error."

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 x64
Brackets: sprint 32 experimental build 0.32.0-9791 (On branch master, master e49a849)

I don't have .Brackets in my home directory (I don't know if I should..)

After start from console I have error (in console):

[1015/101946:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(130)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process

After Debug->Show Developer Tools I'm getting (in Console tab):

less: parsed file:///opt/brackets/www/styles/brackets.less successfully. less-1.4.2.min.js:9
less: css for file:///opt/brackets/www/styles/brackets.less generated in 1326ms less-1.4.2.min.js:9
less: css generated in 1327ms less-1.4.2.min.js:9
CodeMirror mode "application/x-ejs" is already used by language EJS, won't register for Dust.js LanguageManager.js:168

After File->Extension Manager...->Available->Install I'm getting "Installation failed" and in Console tab:

[node-error 10:23:26] [Launcher] uncaught exception at top level, exiting. { [Error: ENOENT, open '/home/studnia/tmp/brackets113915-7238-znqpdg']

[node-info 10:23:26] [Server] stopping NodeDebugUtils.js:114
Unknown installation error cleanup Package.js:370
Unknown installation error extensionManager domain is undefined Package.js:370

Edit1:
Is it an error with my /home/studnia/tmp/ directory? (studnia -> it's my OS username)

Edit2:
Clearing cache folder (and restarting Brackets): ~/.config/brackets/cef_data didn't help

Edit3:
Ok I resolve my problem. I created tmp folder in my home directory:

mkdir ~/tmp

and restarted Brackets. I can install extensions now.

Now in Console tab I have (after some extensions install)

less: parsed file:///opt/brackets/www/styles/brackets.less successfully. less-1.4.2.min.js:9
less: css for file:///opt/brackets/www/styles/brackets.less generated in 1184ms less-1.4.2.min.js:9
less: css generated in 1185ms less-1.4.2.min.js:9
CodeMirror mode "application/x-ejs" is already used by language EJS, won't register for Dust.js LanguageManager.js:168

(Brackets Git 0.6.6 extension didn't install and you can see error in console)

Maybe Brackets should use /tmp directory instead of ~/tmp?

@studzinek Oops, spoke too soon. Looks like the first issue you're seeing is the same as #5513 - I'll make a note there.

The second issue looks like it might a problem with the brackets-git extension - you might want to file an issue in that github repo https://github.com/zaggino/brackets-git to see if he can help diagnose.

Thank you very much. I found this topic about my problem so I answered here. I know that this issue is closed one month ago but I found @augusto1982 and @njx comment so I posted it here. I don't know all github rules. Sorry for that. I will post issues in new/open topics next time:) I know that my second issue is not connected with Bracket. It was just additional info about my log:) Sorry for my bad English. It's my second language. I will follow the #5513 issue.

I am also having the same bug in sprint 32 on Linux Mint 15 Olivia which is based on Ubuntu 13.04.

I had the same problem, it was fixed by creating a folder named tmp in my home:

mkdir -p ~/tmp

Brackets needs to do that itself, or better yet, use the always available /tmp.

Fyi, the ~/tmp issue was fixed back in Sprint 33 (see #5513), so this should work fine in recent Linux builds now.

Hi.
I'm having the same issue with:
Sprint 38 experimental build 0.38.0-12606
In my Ubuntu Linux 13.10 64bit.
(Linux 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

Thanks.

I'm having this issue now with sprint 40. Also the same error as above for the developers tools (http://localhost:9234 not found)

Edit: cleaned my cache folder, no results :(

I have the same problem with sprint 44.
Not working clearing all cache and creating 'tmp' folder in home directory.

Having the same issue, can't install any extensions. Just deleted Brackets and reinstalled. Release 1.2 build 1.2.0-15697 (release 8f82e2a).

OSX 10.10.2

@ahainen as a workaround, you can download the extension zip files from the registry web site (https://brackets-registry.aboutweb.com/) and extract them to /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Brackets/extensions/user/

@ForeverPx

I fix the problem by delete the brackets folder in /Library/Application Support/Brackets

Try this>>

Download .zip from site
unzip it
/opt/brackets/www/extensions/default [Follow path]
for default directory do chmod 777 default
copy ur unzipped extension file there(CAREFULLY INCLUDE ALL FILES IN ONE FOLDER)
Start brackets
WOOO! u have ur extensions....

still its temp. solution>>
