Remove and clean outdated documentation on workflows

In PR #1459 a completely new coherent section was written on the concept of workflows and the API. For the time being, the old documentation was left in place. However, the new documentation is now complete and accurately represents the current state and the presence of the old documentation is now starting to confuse users and so it should be removed
