November 12 - December 3, 2023 in Darker: VSCode integration challenges persist

This period saw continued discussions and efforts to address VSCode integration issues. Following the changes in the Python extension for VSCode, our community has been exploring workarounds to maintain Darker functionality within the IDE. A formal issue was opened to track the ongoing VSCode integration problems (Issue #527), consolidating references to related discussions and previous issues.

In response to user reports of conflicts when using Darker with VSCode's formatOnSave feature, community members proposed a workaround using the Run on Save extension (Discussion #525, #516). This method involves configuring VSCode to trigger Darker automatically on file save, bypassing the need for direct integration with the Python or Black formatter extensions. While this solution offers a temporary fix, we're considering updating our README to provide clearer guidance during this transition period and exploring long-term solutions to improve Darker's compatibility with VSCode's evolving extension ecosystem.
