<div id="4" style="display:none;">He gets cross if you mess up. This was a fun bit of Inform 6 coding, and I thought it'd be fun to see, too.

<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('6').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>

<div id="7" style="display:none;">355 is a good one to start.

<div id="8" style="display:none;">There are six ways.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('9').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="9" style="display:none;">Three of them show something.

<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('12').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="12" style="display:none;">Down-East-North gives something, too.

<div id="13" style="display:none;">NED, END, DEN.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('14').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="14" style="display:none;">They're words.

<div id="15" style="display:none;">Words based on any combination of NSEWUD.

<h2>How can I see Ed Dunn again? Should I?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('17').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="17" style="display:none;">Yes, and yes if you want a hint.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('18').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="18" style="display:none;">Look at his name and the clue above.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('19').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="19" style="display:none;">He's listed in the list.

<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('22').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="22" style="display:none;">Once you find a few locations, that may help you.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('23').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="23" style="display:none;">However, you can also see what happens when you zap back to the center.

<h1>GUI/command concerns</h1>

<h2>Can I speed up the commands?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('28').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="28" style="display:none;">Yes.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('29').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="29" style="display:none;">After 4-5 tasks, which are probably shorter, you can just go DEE, or whichever.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('30').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="30" style="display:none;">You can also toggle the diagonal reject warning with J.
</div>
<h2>What is the best header so I don't have to read the list?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('32').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="32" style="display:none;">That's subjective, though I think TT is best to show the list, provided you have screen space.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('33').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="33" style="display:none;">If you get an initial winning ending, R 9 for the scenery is handy.

<h1>The cheat at 514</h1>

<div id="34" style="display:none;">
<h2>Which help is the best?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('36').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="36" style="display:none;">Well, I think having one clue is the worst, unless you're near the end.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('37').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="37" style="display:none;">The availableometer tells you how many clues are left but buzzes if none are. It does not use a charge.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('38').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="38" style="display:none;">The adrift-a-tron, when switched, beeps and loses a charge when no clues are left.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('39').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="39" style="display:none;">I'm not sure which is better, but my guess is the adrift-o-tron, especially after you've alphabetized the lists. In any case, the sooner you get either one after alphabetizing, the more useful they can be.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('40').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="40" style="display:none;">Saving your charges til the very end may not help you track down the last long clue, but using them once you've exhausted tasks you found easy is hopefully a nice boost.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('41').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="41" style="display:none;">The availableometer can be used to work backwards e.g. try a 5-letter combo, then work back to 4 and 3. It requires a bit more patience. It seems like it'd be better in the endgame.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('42').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="42" style="display:none;">The adrift-o-tron can shake out some useful ways you can't go. Given that some prefixes don't make words (WW*) and alphabetically ordering the lists will give you some insight into the second letter, it can be really powerful when coupled with the alphabetical list.
</div>
</div>

<h1>The cheat at 436</h1>
<div><a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('43').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Open outline</a></div>
<div id="43" style="display:none;">
<h2>What can I use it for?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('45').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="45" style="display:none;">You can initially pick a task of varying length to complete, up to three times. That can be useful for longer tasks.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('46').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="46" style="display:none;">But you can also go back to Ed Dunn's with a cheat.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('47').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="47" style="display:none;">This cheat sorts the clues in full alphabetical order. Then you can pick a letter to start with.
</div>
</div>

<h1>On finishing</h1>
<div><a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('48').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Open outline</a></div>
<div id="48" style="display:none;">
<h2>What are all the easter eggs?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('50').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="50" style="display:none;">They're in the source code, if you want to search there.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('51').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="51" style="display:none;">They're also in AMUSING. Well, not all of them.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('52').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="52" style="display:none;">You can also UNDO and try again near the end.
</div>
<h2>What does SSDD mean?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('54').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="54" style="display:none;">Same stuff, different day.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('55').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="55" style="display:none;">That's the polite version, of course.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('56').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="56" style="display:none;">Acronymfinder.com is awesome for finding that.
</div>

<h1>Scenery</h1>
<div><a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('57').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Open outline</a></div>
<div id="57" style="display:none;">
<h2>What matters? What doesn't?</h2>
<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('59').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="59" style="display:none;">You should be able to turn off random scenery with B.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('60').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="60" style="display:none;">Anything else you find is a sort of clue. But don't worry about finding too much.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('61').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="61" style="display:none;">Advanced mode gives you a framework to find everything. If you visit it after winning regular mode, the game remembers what you saw.

<div>
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('62.14').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;">Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="62.14" style="display:none;">You probably see how to get back to Ed Dunn, but the next one begins with S.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('62.15').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>

<div id="62.17" style="display:none;">The double double-e's are clues for the last two. The first combines a three- and four-letter word. The three- is an answer to a puzzle, but four is not.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('62.18').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>

<div id="62.24" style="display:none;">Except for the acronym, these go DE or DU.

<div id="62.27" style="display:none;">The middle one has only two possibilities, as does the acronym. The first one--well, it's Ed Dunn. If you got your friend, the last has only two possibilities.

<h2>What are the sociopolitical implications? How does this game reflect the author's political and/or moral and/or game design views?</h2>

<div id="78" style="display:none;">Really, I just ran a PERL script to find the locations, then extrapolated whatever jokes I could find.

<div id="79" style="display:none;">If you're wondering, I found Death Panels so ridiculous I had to lampoon them somewhere.

<div id="80" style="display:none;">Well, I'm kind of cranky about Progress in General or Being/Seeming Advanced. And I work that angle heavily whenever I can.

<div id="81" style="display:none;">Also, there are a lot of smart people, or smart people mannerisms, I try to lampoon that. They (we) need to be cut down and laughed at.

<div id="82" style="display:none;">I hope this game doesn't try for too many sociopolitical implications (I dread Discussing Big Things in games) but generally hope that Threediopolis is a quasi-dystopia that allows you to laugh at the worst of society, Maybe it even helps you to tolerate it in real life, or to tolerate annoying stuffy pretentious people and bureaucracy like what you run across randomly in-game.
<a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('83').style.display = 'block'; this.style.display = 'none'; return false;"><br>Click to show next hint</a></div>
<div id="83" style="display:none;">I would also be flattered if you came back to the game a few months later, not able to remember everything, but able to find new ways to derive the solution. During programmer testing I had fun learning to reason instead of memorize, or feeling silly forgetting *that* clue I put in.

<div id="89" style="display:none;">There are 129 such sectors. Each is equally probable. The south-west-down has only 4 (000 001 010 101) and the north-east-up has 35. The code was fun to write, and I'm proud of it. Search for "unreachable" in the source.
