Why is this useful?

A while ago, Reddit released its very own native video player - v.redd.it. Yet its support on plenty of apps and devices is limited.
This bot provides a mirror hosted on either Gfycat or Streamable: both Reddit-friendly platforms.

How do I summon it?

Reply /u/vredditmirrorbot on any valid submission and the bot will convert the content.
It also automatically detects new submissions on every subreddit, but is bound to miss some given the large influx of content.
If it doesn't reply in about 10 minutes, it's either banned from the subreddit or the submission is NSFW.

I can't open any link?

WEBM isn't supported if you're using an iOS device.
If you're still having any issues, PM me your device, app and problematic link. Screenshots are also welcome.

Why would a mirror be better quality?

It has consistently better quality. Here's a simplified explanation.

Where are the mirrors being hosted?

Currently, GIF type content (no sound) is being hosted on Gfycat and non-GIF on Streamable.
If you dislike these platforms, suggestions are welcome.

Why not Imgur?

As of now, Imgur doesn't support video uploads.
For it to work, DASH files would have to be downloaded as MP4 and then converted to GIF. This results in unwelcomed quality loss.

Bad bot!

This is counterproductive. If you're having any issues, PM me.
If you're just in the mood of hating stuff, block it.

Are you hosting this yourself?

Yes. If you wish to cover the electricity costs, support me here!
