Hacking Atom Ascii Art example won't trigger.

The Ascii Art package example seems to not trigger for me. I closely followed the example (with the exception of using json for the keymap file, since cson didn't work), tried the most recent version of figlet, and disabled the vim-mode-plus package, but the package still doesn't work. Neither the keyboard shortcut (ctrl-alt-a) nor using the Command Palette work. I'm working on a Mac, El Capitan.
