Welcome to the dactyl-build wiki!
Here I will have documented my journey to build my own custom dactyl keyboard
I want to have a curved keyboard at home, because I really like the kinesis advantage I used to have at work. However, I do think that the advantage does not look very cool, but the dactyl does! Then I got numerous ideas to add to the base dactyl, such as bluetooth and RGB lighting.
-
dactyl shape (similar to the kinesis advantage; I used to have one at work)
-
custom switch layout;gateron greens -
built-in bluetooth (stretch goal?)
-
Keyboard controllers programmed in rust
- layout toggle (qwerty/dvorak/other?) done in OS on desktop, but e.g. iOS has no support for programmer's dvorak, so the kb needs to be able to adapt
- dual kb layout (two halves can work independently)
- built-in USB hub for a mouse. (Maybe even for USB sticks / game controllers?)
- RGB leds, eventually programmable (stretch goal)
You can also check out the log I'm keeping while I work on the project and several ideas about programming the keyboard I have.
