This version contains the following updates:

  • Possibility to specify multiple ownship Mode-S HEX exclusions. Stratux will automatically determine which of those are really you. This makes it possible to e.g. enter all hex codes of your club aircraft without having to worry about changing the code every time. Additionally, it makes it possible to carry a flarm beacon and have both, your Flarm beacon AND Mode-S hex excluded:

  • Major rework of flarm reception code to make it more robust and have a higher update rate
  • inclusion of OGN Device DB to properly resolve Flarm ID to callsign
  • Updated to Stratux 1.6r1 base

Changes since last stable

  • Image is based on Raspbian Buster instead of the "official Stratux" Raspbian Jessie image - new drivers, libraries, ...
  • Improvements to the WebRadar (Thanks @TomBric)
  • Support for up to three SDRs (ES+UAT+Flarm) in parallel
  • Improved Ublox 9 support (Thanks @VirusPilot)
  • Support for changing the Stratux IP Address
  • Support form Flarm-NMEA output via TCP Port 2000, tested in EasyVFR, Flymap Android and SkyDemon
  • Estimate distance of bearingless targets based on signal strength and transmit it via Flarm-NMEA (as a distance circle) and GDL90 (as 8 targets in a circle around the ownship position). Can be disabled in settings

Stratux Europe Edition 1.5b2-eu009 BETA

Pre-release

Changes from previous beta:

  • Improvements to bearingless target distance estimation
  • Unified estimation of bearingless targets for EFB-output and web radar
  • Experimental bearingless targets via GDL90 by simulating 8 real targets in a circle around your GPS position
  • Settings switch to enable/disable bearingless targets
  • Experimental X-Plane 11 emulation (Port 49002) to maybe work with Garmin Pilot
  • Improved Flarm NMEA Output to work with Flymap
  • Bugfixes to traffic altitude reporting via Flarm NMEA

If everything goes well, this will be the last beta. Please test extensively.

Another beta release based on Raspbian Buster. Compared to the current stable release, this includes:

  • Image is based on Raspbian Buster instead of the "official Stratux" Raspbian Jessie image - new drivers, libraries, ...
  • Improvements to the WebRadar (Thanks @TomBric)
  • Support for up to three SDRs (ES+UAT+Flarm) in parallel
  • Improved Ublox 9 support (Thanks @VirusPilot)
  • Support for changing the Stratux IP Address (experimental)
  • Support form Flarm-NMEA output via TCP Port 2000, tested in EasyVFR, SkyDemon, FLymap
  • Support for estimating the distance of Mode-C/S targets and sending this estimated distance via Flarm-NMEA. This will be shown in SkyDemon as a distance-circle, if traffic is within 3000ft vertically and estimated to be closer than 30km horizontally (will be reduced in the future), other EFBs have to be evaluated. The estimated distance can also be seen in the web interface. For now, distance estimation is also done for ADS-B targets to compare it to the real distance. Note that the estimation is quite bad when distance is > ~10-15nm. It is only based on signal strength.
  • Support for bearingless targets via GDL90 by placing 8 aircrafts in a circle around your GPS position with estimated distance as radius
  • Support for X-Plane 11 output (port 49002) to work with Garmin Pilot

To make use of bearingless target estimation in SkyDemon, you will have to change the Stratux IP to 192.168.1.1 and configure SkyDemon to connect to "FLARM with Air Connect".

Stratux Europe Edition 1.5b2-eu004

This is a relatively small release, containing

  • Some more Ublox 8 GPS tweaks by VirusPilot

  • A settings-switch to enable a workaround for SkyDemons wonky GDL90 implementation on Android. For more information, see the "Notes to SkyDemon Android Users" here: https://github.com/b3nn0/stratux/blob/master/README.md

  • Experimental - you will not notice this: This version includes scripts to allow me to create images that are not based on the official Stratux image any more (which is based on a very old Raspbian version), but based on the official Raspbian Stretch image. This is not used for production for now.

  • More under the hood improvements to GPS/Galileo/Glonass implementation (by VirusPilot)
  • Radar page fullscreen fix for iOS devices (by TomBric)
  • Reduced ogn-decode spawn delay to have flarm reception available earlier
  • Updated build scripts to also provide update files for existing installations. Note: Upgrading from the original Stratux image is NOT supported. Only use this to update from 1.5b2-eu002 onward!
  • Added Flarm status to the main status page:

This release mostly contains improvements under the hood, but also some user-facing changes:

  • Hide Weather/Towers page if UAT is disabled
  • Updated the underlying Raspbian packages to the latest from the debian repository
  • Fixed a crash when simulating traffic during development
  • Updated packaging scripts for easy image creation for the European edition
  • Added a Flarm status page which displays basic ogn-rf and ogn-decode information (the ogn-decode takes quite a bit longer to start up. Don't worry if you get an error and give it some time, then refresh the page):

Stratux Europe Edition - first release

This marks the first release of the Stratux Europe Edition:

  • Merged devel/flarm_receiver from PepperJo, which enables flarm reception based on the OpenGliderNetwork decoding stack (https://github.com/PepperJo/stratux)
  • Merged VirusPilot's fixes and improvements for U-Blox 8 devices and Galileo/Glonass reception (https://github.com/VirusPilot/stratux)
  • Changed DHCP Settings to not set a DNS server - this fixes the hangs that can be observed with current SkyDemon versions when not having an internet connection
  • If no pressure sensor is present, report GPS Altitude as pressure altitude to make SkyDemon happy (NOT RECOMENDED!)
  • By default, FLARM and DeveloperMode is enabled, UAT is disabled
  • WebRadar by TomBric:
