Does the bidding process involve any monetary aspect?

As I understand it, the Bacalhau network relies on bidding as a way for the network to distribute jobs and for compute node to accept jobs.

Does the bidding process have any monetary aspect? Or is it mostly a coordination process to avoid multiple compute nodes taking the same job?
