In discussion it was determined that additional information about Residential Exemption would be valuable to include on the Manufactured Home Registry CMS site. Currently the website has very limited information:

Residential exemptions
Residential exemptions are made when a manufactured home is located on private property.
Complete an Application for Residential Exemption and submit it through a qualified supplier. You will also require a current dated land title search.

Note: Information may be available in existing job aides or requirements documents. Sharon can be engaged as necessary.

I've drafted initial recommended updates and sent to Sharon for review. Note: The edits were previously requested due to the lack of explicit information on the website. They are not changing any processes, as this initial release will not include any changes to process for Qualified Suppliers or end users.

Residential exemptions

Under section 21 of the Manufactured Home Act, the registered owner(s) may request the manufactured home is exempt from all of the provisions of the Manufactured Home Act except section 32. Residential exemptions may be granted when a manufactured home is located on private property.

Complete an Application for Residential Exemption and submit it through a qualified supplier. You will also require a current dated land title search.

Text has been reviewed by Sharon and additional changes have been made. The text below has been passed to Fareen to have posted.

Great edits! I’ve added a comma and changed one word to be ‘for’ instead of ‘of’. Fareen, can you please pass the updated text along? Note: the text will all be in black and the two hyperlinks are existing hyperlinks that don’t require change. I’ve only changed some text to red below to ensure that Sharon can see the minor updates I made to her version.

Residential exemptions
Under section 21 of the Manufactured Home Act, the registered owner(s) may request the manufactured home is exempt from all provisions of the Manufactured Home Act except section 32. Residential exemptions may be granted when a manufactured home is located on private property and is deemed or will be permanently attached to the land. The registered homeowner must be a registered land title holder or leaseholder of the land for 3 years or more, to make this declaration. You will require a current dated land title search or proof of registered lease agreement, to accompany this application.

Complete an Application for Residential Exemption and submit it through a qualified supplier.
