In parameters -> Vector Chart Display the option "Reduce details at small scale" is selected all depths texts are hidden. For me depth is not a detail and this is not the behaviour with S67 or CM93 charts.
This is highly critical as that option can be selected with other chart-set and not be visible.
Chance for a user to find the root cause at sea is very low.

This is designed behavior. On the chart shown, the SCAMIN value for soundings is 18,000. This means that when "reduced detail" is selected, soundings are not shown if indicated scale is greater than 18,000. Your indicated display scale is 20,300. Ergo, no sounding shown.
Zoom in, and you will see soundings.
The SCAMIN value for each Feature Object on the chart cell is determined by the cartographer. OpenCPN simply honors the cartographer's intentions.
Whether the SCAMIN value specified for a particular object (class) is correct, is another topic best discussed with the HO...
