crashes all over on 10.9.5 #3

Are there any manual commands to run that can accomplish the same result without using this pref pane, it crashes like a crazy driver.

I just want to set the protocol handler for mailto, but I guess you need a minimal app to point it to, which this pref pane accomplishes.

Here are the crash logs and system.log from a few minutes after I installed it for my user account:
