Hi,
since some days Python2 is end of life and Debian is removing packages depending from Python2 soon. While I was able to use 2to3 to create a patch to port the pynast code to Python3 it still depends the old version of cogent that is using Python2. I'm in the process to switch the Debian package to cogent3. When doing so I realised that the API changed and pynast will not work with cogent3. So I wonder whether you might intend to provide a Python3 port for pynast or whether I rather need to remove the pynast package from Debian.
Kind regards, Andreas.

Hi again,
Debian has now droped the old python-cogent code version 1.9 and switched to cogent3. Since the cogent API has changed it does not work with pynast any more. I wonder whether you plan to port pynast to Python3. Otherwise it will be removed from Debian soon.
Kind regards, Andreas.
