Hello,

I installed and verified the x-lite wallet from the website on Tails OS 4.18 and every time I’ve tried to create a wallet it gives me the error “There was a problem creating the wallet.” Any ideas what might be happening? I’ve successfully installed and connected the Blocknet wallet, but can’t get this one to work so I can’t progress to connecting it to Block DX.

Thanks!

Hmm. That architecture is certainly supported. I wonder if it's an issue specifically related to Tails. We test it on Debian-based Linux distros but most others are supported without issue. I'll need to look into that. I'm going to fire up a VM and check it out.

I was able to recreate the issue and we did some testing, but while the UI is able to load fine it turns out that the binary in the background that we use to run the RPC server is unable to open the RPC servers. It is probably related to port opening rules in Tails. In the near future, we will be doing away with that binary and moving all of the functionality into XLite itself. At that point, we will be better able to debug and find a way to either get things working in Tails, or at least be able to tell the user what they can potentially do to get it working. But, for the time being I'm afraid that I do not have a good solution for you. I think that we just have to say that Tails isn't supported at this time.

That’s okay, thank you for testing it! Happy to hear you’re working on Tails support. I’m sure I’m not the only one interested. I think it would be awesome if there was an official Tails guide for Blocknet/XLite/Block DX on the Blocknet website once the new binary is in place, something similar to what Bisq had on theirs. I’m excited about the project and look forward to using it in the future!
