I'm not enamoured with BalenaCloud/BalenaOS. It just seems heavy.

Software updates are crushingly slow and a total software change often causes the pi to get into a download loop which is annoying to get it out of
Pushes are also quite slow (although improved now I've fixed dockerignores)
I don't like the layer on top of docker that uses templating, seems dirty

I think there are probably lighter-weight alternatives out there. I'm curious, for example, about AWS IoT Device Management

Upswift looks pretty good. This would be particularly great if the pi software was rewritten as a golang binary
