I was working on something completely unrelated when I saw this PDF talking about normalization, I don't know if we cover all these cases, maybe we do but I thought it would be worth a look

the only thing that's missing is the normalization of geminates at the beginning of a word, but the implementation requires a different mechanism, probably a PatternFilter... let's skip that for now
