In #324, prompt customization is discussed, but would you be open to an env var for setting a custom color as well, with a default of the light-mode/dark-mode setup currently used? At least for me, conformity with the shell prompt would require this, and more low-code overhead customization should be a good thing in any case.

Actually, this looks like it falls under #156 instead--that seems like a more comprehensive color customization system, and I see options for cursor colors in it.
