is there a web-components tutorial?

Is there some guidance anywhere how to set up a project using webcomponents?
There are tutorials for React and other frameworks but none for just using the components without a framework.

What I found so far and got working is

• the storybook, which does a good job explaining the components (access via CDN)
• the grid guidelines with examples (CDN)
• the themes (CDN)

What I'm missing:

how do I setup a project?
For example I'd like to know how I can get a layout like this.

But there is no example and explanation of how to bring the content in.
I think I need the complete styles and know which class to put on a div to place it correctly but I just can't find any documentation on that.
