This is a valid point. After a brutal work day(definitely not a day job 100% all in on VIMKiller), the team has estimated that the R&D costs for this feature may be quite large. The VIMKiller team works tirelessly to keep the world unscarred. However, as you state, it is so important to remember that the motivations for this effort are not driven by monetary efforts. We are willing to forgo the serious labor costs (which we estimate to be 3 million USD per unit) to a mere 777,777 USD.
We believe this number offers us the best chance of reaching our goals.
The itemized numbers for pricing are as follows:
arduino clone: 10 USD
button: 0.5 USD
wire: 0.02USD
resistor: 0.05USD
plastic: 0.5 USD
USB cable: 1-2 USD
Call it a cool 13 bucks.
labor costs:
CAD development + software development: 0 USD
Security from angry VIM users: 2,999,987$.
That's the real hidden cost.
But, because we are so genuine in our efforts we are willing to let go of some faraday cages, body guards, drone surveillance systems, etc
As mentioned in #1, you are going to implement an additional feature that solves a very serious threat to mankind:
And such a heroic effort cannot go unrewarded. So, I think it is fair enough to double the price to one million dollars.
But if in an act of magnanimous generosity you decide to charge less, the minimum price could not be less than 750.000 USD, in my opinion.
