👋 Discussion for the GTK theme!

• The most important topic of this discussion - catppuccin/gtk is looking for maintainers. Our previous maintainer is not available at the moment (thanks for your work @sadrach-cl 💟) and the development has come to a halt right now. We already have 12 issues open on the repository right now and since Gnome 43 would be hitting the major distros soon, we feel its time to open up this discussion to look for new maintainers as we expect more issues to pop up with Gnome version bump.

Issues that need tackling

• Currently the development on the theme is not streamlined. Since this theme is based on vinceliuice/Colloid-gtk-theme, the build script initially downloads the Colloid-gtk-theme source code and then we move onto modifying the theme to add Catppuccin colours. Only @sadrach-cl has actually gone through this process himself. The development scripts are present on the dev0.2 branch. These are a bit rudimentary and need to be refined to make development easier.
  Development plans:
  • Sadrach has given a rough outline on how they want this to continue. Anyone wishing to maintain should join the discord so that its easier to coordinate the further progress. We also have a thread explaining the whole build process in the server.
• The GTK theme does not currently follow Catppuccin's colour naming scheme. We wish to make the naming of theme flavours coherent with our naming scheme as well.
• The theme variants of other colourschemes are also present in the files on this repository and it would be better is we can remove these generated files during the build process (hopefully this can be done easily with the help of a script).
• And of course, we need to fix issues that are currently open on the repository.
