Expected behavior for pausing partition.

Hey folks , does pausing the partition guarantee that we won't receive any messages for that partition on subsequent poll calls until we resume that partition ? Since the go library returns only a single event from the poll call (instead of the entire batch) so wondering if it's possible that the poll call will still return messages for that partition (maybe they were fetched in the previous batch) ?
