Problem

Currently, MF suffers from low engagement, low attention from non-crypto world and huge amounts of DANK being totally inactive.
This proposal aims to tackle these issues by going to the place where value presumably lies.
The core assumption in Memehunt is that the most known and the dankest memes are the most valuable(original Yao Ming, first Pepe etc.).

Implementation

This proposal suggests creation of game theoretical construct inside MF marketplace in which different actors with different roles are tied to process of finding the original meme and its creator.

After thorough search and validation of proofs of origin:

  • Original Meme gets listed on MF
  • active and useful participants are rewarded, bad actors or non-useful are punished

Actors

  • Starters
curator of search and validation processes who initializes the search of chosen meme; stakes 100k DANK; after successfully listed original meme gets 1 free copy of it; 10% of their stake goes to original meme creator, 10% to successful hunter, 80% is burned.
  • Hunters
look for creators and provide proofs of origin; stake 10k DANK; after successfully listed original meme get 10% of starter's stake; in case of wrong hunt - lose their stake to validators
  • Validators
stake their DANK to vote for one of the original creators suggested by hunters; those who voted for winning creator are proportionally entitled to DANK from wrong-votes and bad hunters
  • Original creators
submit proofs by hunters help or by themselves, if successfully voted, gets 10% starters stake, world-wide acknowledgment :) and monetization of his masterpiece

Participants have right to appeal to the validators vote through Aragon court.

Notes

  • Time duration of the initial Memehunt should be long enough for media coverage and raising engagement of existing DANK holders and non-crypto meme fans, as well as testing the structure and parameters.
  • Current size of stakes are proposed to avoid spam and provides incentives/"skin in the game" for participants. With such big stakes large holders interested in potential "exchange" of their DANKs for valuable meme and small holders benefit from tokens burn as their tokens gain more weight in MF.
  • Memehunt could ignite interest in meme collecting as the most legendary memes become available to acquire directly from author and will have "provenance" in the future.

The proposed structure is not final or ideally balanced. Some conditions weren't outlined as well.
Would love to hear suggestions on the improvement and if you are interested in the implementation.

I appreciate the time you took to submit this idea. It's interesting to think of ways a platform like Meme Factory could expand. This feature will however be a significant undertaking and I don't think something this elaborate will be deployed in the near future.

That said, Meme Factory is open source, if you or someone you know wanted to fork Meme Factory and play with the code, you can. That is the beauty of it being open source.

This would be a killer hackathon project. Let me know if you or anyone you know does decide to do something like this. Happy to chat more and help in any way I can.
