Chat v2 is out, post your feedback!

👋 Hi everyone,

I'm delighted to announce that our Chat v2 is out in BETA. To access it, it's easy:

1. Enable it via the site navigation:
   

2. Replace /username/live with /username/live2

⭐️ What's New?

• No Scroller Ever setup so you can always see the VIDEO, always able to CHAT
• Zooming enabled for desktop and mobile fullscreen views
• Play Bar to easily start playing, see any game progress - right at your fingertips!
• Easier Tipping with pre-selected tip amount
• Lovense Control game to take control of your fav streamer's lovense toy in 1-tap
• Leaderboard to see where you stand
• Follow is always located at the top so you can follow your fav streamer easily
• Next button in the top right, to quickly browse through our live channels
• Tip Menu + Gift Menu merged into one simple Menu button (from the Play Bar)
• Bolt drawer to change your font size settings + tappable commands

Looks awesome was trying it out abit today, Is it possible to have people change color of the names? it seems to blend in to much i feel like it would be easy to miss out on messages or maybe thats just me haha. but this is exiting i love the look to it.

@quincyentertainment that's a great idea - making people pick is a bit tricky in terms of API usage (having to check the user's setting for each chat message) but what the developers are implementing now, is to use the user's level for their username so it makes the chat easier to read and also goes with their level/badge ;)

A very small thing, but the white "Give Feedback" icon sometimes overlaps with white text from chat.

Looking good, I like that chat somehow gets more space. Noticed that the pop-out chat is still the old one. Looks like the new Chat doesnt show all the things as the old chat.
The message "(Member name) started following (Model name)" was shown in the old chat, but not in the new one.

Is it possible to show a tooltip if you move the mouse on the little emotes in chat that are at the names of the models. Like the streamer symbol or the blue/white hook.

Edit 1: The "d" of "tipped" isnt completly shown at the end of the automatic message "Member tipped Amount"
Edit 2: Old chat shows the room topic when you enter. New chat doesnt. In my opinion the text of the room topic above the video might also be a bit bigger.

We tried to lower the amount of noise in the chat, so we turned off the member is following model name notification for now, we may bring them back in a different way though.

I posted a bug task here to fix the d being a bit hidden, it looks like it's mostly happening with firefox here but let me know the browser you were using, that'd help our QA team to make sure it's 100% fixed :)

I used Firefox, so the browser is to blame :D
Lowering the amount of noise is a good idea, havent thought about that. The message is also not that importan for me as a member, not sure by the models view.
Maybe offer a customisation option to turn certain automatic messages on or off. So the model or the member can choose if they want it. Or other auto messages that might annoy or be too much.

Looks really good , the implemented design fits quite well with the rest of the page.
If it's possible, I have small requests of things that were on the v1 that could stay on this one :

• To see who is with you in the room (when you click on the number of viewers you had the list of viewers, players and anonymous) ,
• That you can connect on the live page of an offline streamer and close the pop up that recommends you to go on another page so that
  you could see the tips menu or wait on the page,
• To see all the goals in the goals menu not only the next one.

Overall the upgrade is really good, thank you for the hard work !

I'm not able to adjust streams I am watching on new chat. The zoom thing only makes it like zoomed out but makes chat small. I think the old way was better when it comes to that. But apparently it's good on mobile.

I'm trying it out on my laptop, in Firefox, on linux.

The good:

1. It looks really really nice. Fits all my screen real estate nicely, with no wasted space, and maximum viewport. Feels modern.
2. The old chat has a eplay logo over the video, which is annoying for game streams. I much prefer the new chat's small stream name and whether I'm following in the corner since it's not over the video
3. There's less typing delay, which is nice
4. It doesn't lag the video when I rocket tip on my 2015 laptop, which is an amazing improvement. I can finally watch an eplay stream on my old laptop!!

Mixed:

1. The room title and viewer count is nice to see, but it took me a while to figure out how to mouseover to make it appear.

The Bad:

1. I have to drag the volume control down to raise volume, and up to lower volume. It's backwards and confusing. nobody does it this way. Up should raise, and down should lower.
2. Mousing over the badges, stars, etc. after a name in chat no longer tells you what they mean.
3. I can't figure out how to see who's in the chatroom.
4. Sometimes the blurred top and bottom background bars update in the middle of a stream, and it's jarring, especially in first-person games
5. The leaderboard button and other two chat side buttons cover the most recent chat messages, making it annoying to read.
6. The tip button disappearing when the chat has focus is annoying because I want to both tip and chat.
7. I can't see new follows, which sucks when I'm attempting to co-stream.
8. When I tip, I hear the tip sound effects through my browser, and it's much louder than the model's audio/mic. I can't find how to mute it on my side or adjust the volume.

The Ugly:

1. The chat doesn't scroll to the bottom when new messages come in... the old chat has this problem occasionally, but the new chat does this a LOT.
2. Chat keeps losing focus, which gets annoying when I go to type and nothing happens, since I have to click the chat input field again and again.

@halftone-plays thank you so much for your feedback. Someone already shared that with us yesterday from your discord message, and we already started tackling some of these

• we're adding an easier way to see who's connected to the chatroom
• we're trying to debug which notification or chat message stops the auto-scroll
• volume bar is already fixed, it'll be good on our next release (next Tuesday most likely)
• we also already fixed the chat input losing focus (will also be part of the next release)

We did disable the follow notifications on chat v2 as we thought they were making too much "noise" in the chatroom but we're going to put them back as a setting for streamers, so they can have them back if they want to!

Thanks! I added a couple items here that aren't on the discord. I appreciate you all fixing things =). This new chat is going to be essential for reducing CPU usage when streaming CPU-heavy games. My PC cries when trying to stream Beat Saber with the old chat open.

Really terrible that the user list is not viewable
also terrible that you have to click a link to see the broadcasters bio/about page
the leaderboard link covers chat messages making them hard to read
Stupid to make people sign up for a separate site to report feedback
can only see one goal , not all of the goals that a broadcaster has
If you do not know what the follow button is you will never find it , a little heart by the broadcasters name means nothing

Thanks for your feedback!

We're adding the user's list to the leaderboard, we just had some upgrading to do there before turning it back live.

We tested the follow button with the heart + heart follow (text) and we didnt see any difference in the amount of follows, so that's why we decided to keep the smaller version so the only text at the top is your username (your channel). It's good to hear what you think though, we may test this again in the future now that chat v2 is out for all users.

The goals and future goals are being added soon, same, we had to do some upgrades to the goal game (it's much faster and instant now) but having future goals added more load times, so once it's back it'll be as instant/fast as the current goal now.

PS: we picked GitHub because it's trusted, free and you can keep your email/info private. It's also directly linked to our developers, so it makes it much faster/better to post feedback and create an actionable item for it. Building it our own bulletin board didnt make sense. I don't like the Leaderboard for tips being so public! It comes across as nosy and completely unnecessary to me. I'd scrap that feature all together

we're going to re-think this part but this idea is to have the top 3 tip amounts for now, and that's it but we may remove it for them also if you think that's not needed?

The new chat seems to be working good, a few things I have noticed, as I am a mod for a streamer and also in her Sub club both icons do not display, also if you hover on the icon for the mod it does not say what it is , many do not know it might be helpful for them to know . Also there are far to many users that do not buy tokens and probably never will , a true private function for the streamers would be useful for users like myself who are tired of providing free shows for lurkers and free loaders .

We have a backlog tasks to add back the tooltip on each chat badge, I'll push this one forward as I totally agree with you, it's going to be very useful.

I don't want to spoil anything but we're working on the true private feature! In the meantime, I recommend the VIP ticket show, it's a good way to do what you do behind a paywall :)

Hello !

The chat is really great with the new features and the accessibility was greatly enhanced ! There are just little problems I've noticed :

• The user list sometimes doesn't show everyone or just stop showing people that were on the stream for too long and that blocks the streamer from sending messages to a viewer for a personal link or other uses,
• The goals when attained don't show up every time in the chat and in this situation it can be troublesome for the streamer to know which one(s) needs to be done.

Really love the top 3 and royal of the stream features, it can help the streamer to give bonuses to the royal so that's really good !

I see you made upgrades today , for the worse, the pop out chat is useless as it has no way to communicate in the chat, my avatar is not on the main login page so I do not know if I am logged in , finding the information to contact eplay is impossible and the message indicator on the popout chat always shows I have notifications , which I have cleared I will not know if I receive a new one. These are the few issues I have found in the 10 minutes I have been using it .

There is a bad thing happening with your site, there are far to many logged out users and users who have never bought tokens who treat the broadcasters rudely and simply wait in 4 or more rooms at a time to watch free shows, This has caused many like myself who want to support the broadcasters to not tip , we are tired of providing free shows for lurkers who have no intention of ever supporting the site or the broadcasters. I have seen another site that only allows logged out users 1 hour a day to view and then they somehow block you from viewing again , as for the users who never buy tokens I do not know what you can do with them if you delete accounts they will simply make another and the broadcasters leave them in the room to gain standing and get higher on the first page there needs to be a better way for them to gain standing than allowing non tippers making constant demands in their room . I have been a member for 4+ years and am considering leaving because of this . You also need to post somewhere what it takes to advance your EXP level , I have been stuck at level 25 for over 200K tokens when I made it to level 10 with less than that , to make it impossible to advance higher levels is not good either , you take advantage of the ones who tip most and give the ones who tip little more .

Hey @Loneeagle964, thanks a lot for your feedback, we're aware of the problem, and we're working on adding a private show feature to fix the problem.
Broadcasters have easy ways to prevent users from chatting with different levels (only allow people with a minimum level to chat or only allow people with tokens). Do you think we should add such a feature for users, so you can hide messages from other users who don't have tokens or are at a low level?

As far as the EXP level, we're also working on a way to redeem that EXP. There will be a lot of fun ways to use your EXP in the near future.
