S3 Blob storage corrupted on SpringBoot app restart

I have a fledgling SpringBoot app where I am porting the datastore from PostgreSQL/QueryDSL to EclipseStore. The app now creates its storage in a S3 bucket, however when I stop and restart the app, the S3 storage is corrupted and the app cannot start.

a) How can I prevent this corruption?
b) Should this happen in critical production, how can one recover the data, if at all?
