Alumni verification

Alumni are unable to use the service to verify, despite being able to log into the university web portal with their @soton.ac.uk accounts still

If there is a way for me to provide diagnostic information with my account I'm happy to do so

Thanks for making an issue, I had previously tested with an alumni account and thought it was all working fine but clearly not. Let's get this working for you.

Did you graduate before 2012? I assume not meaning you will have a abc123@southamptonalumni.ac.uk email address, correct?

Are you only able to access outlook with your alumni account or other services? I wonder if the university have locked down the alumni account permissions recently.

Does the site display any errors? Or do you get the error on the Microsoft OAuth page?

I graduated after 2012 and yes have one of those emails, I sign in to the alumni account using my old @soton.ac.uk address.

Yes I get access to outlook, I'm not sure which other services I get as I think they are limited.

No errors at all, it prompts me to sign in with OAuth but after that just returns me to the first page again asking to link my soton account. The button then does nothing, presumably because I'm signed in already via OAuth.

Thank you for your answers, next week I'll set up a testing instance for you to log into so I can diagnose any errors. I suspect it's unfixable and the uni has changed something with alumni accounts and OAuth login but I'll have a look and at least provide some information for future alumni who try to login.

In the mean time if there is a specific soceity you are trying to join / get verified for please email society@ecs.soton.ac.uk with your southampton alumni address and the subject line "ATTN: Web Officer RE: Unable to verify alumni account" and I will be able to give your account special verified status as a temporary fix.
