I have noticed a strange behaviour for AM reception.
Example:
I have an AM aircraft frequency programmed in memory. The particular frequency is broadcast continuously (weather reports).
Test 1:
Select the AM aircraft channel.
Turn off the radio.
Turn on the radio.
After bootup there is an 8 to 10 second delay before the channel is received.
Test 2:
Select an FM channel.
Turn off the radio.
Turn on the radio.
If active the FM channel is received immediately.
Select the AM aircraft channel.
There is an 8 to 10 second delay before the channel is received.
In both cases, once the AM channel has been selected and after the initial 8 ~ 10 second blocking period, there is no further delay after deselecting and returning to the AM channel.
Opening the squelch manually or scanning also appears to force immediate reception of the AM channel.
Initially I thought it may be the way the receiver chip has to be configured for AM, but it only seems to do it the first time AM is selected.
Now that I understand the behaviour, it is not a problem as far as I am concerned, but I thought I would note it for interest.
