These requirements are replacing #71737

Today our interstitial page for new users is directing folks to sample data. In order to make their first experience more engaging, we'll likely want to shift that to adding data. Below is a screenshot of the current state.

The work required here will likely be minimal, as we're just adjusting the content and links vs. having to introduce any logic as to when this page would be visible. Ideally, we get this change in the same time as the homepage updates. At a minimum it feels like we should:

  1. Update the description to:

Start by adding your data

Add data to your cluster from any source, then analyze and visualize it in real time. Use our solutions to add search anywhere, observe your ecosystem, and protect against security threats.

  1. Change the primary button to Add data and route to /app/kibana#/home/tutorial_directory.

The tutorials also have a banner to try out our agent so it will be present in the onboarding experience, just not the primary action initially. @mostlyjason please feel free to weigh in if you feel differently.

  1. Update the image to match ingest manager

@alexfrancoeur. What your your thoughts on something along these lines:

Start by adding your data

We'll help you quickly get your data in, so you can show it off in charts and dashboards for easy analysis.

+1 on "Start by adding your data"

Since this is the absolute first screen they'll see, I wonder if we should reference some of the capabilities you get by using Elastic. We don't today, and it feels like a miss. I'm going to propose something below that I don't like, but I hope it gets the point across. I'll definitely need your magic @gchaps

Get started with Elastic by adding data to your Elasticsearch cluster. Once your data is in, analyze with Kibana dashboards or take advantage of our Observability, Security and Enterprise Search solutions.

Do we have any 2 -3 liners / prior-art to explain the value you get out of Elastic? And can we somehow twist that to work with getting data in. I think this is why I have also been thinking we may want to update the imagery (cc: @MichaelMarcialis @ryankeairns )

@alexfrancoeur Checked the website for some 2-3 liners. Maybe something like this:

Start by adding your data

Add data to your cluster from any source, then search, analyze, and visualize it in real time. Use our solutions for a variety of experiences -- from finding documents to monitoring infrastructure to protecting against security threats.

The current graphic was stolen borrowed from the website and Observability had some graphics made recently as well. Let's see if we can find something quick from either of those sources. We can certainly ask creative services, but its worth taking a look before requesting a short turnaround.

This still feels off to me, but I tried to borrow from our new elastic.co home page (staging environment) to describe our solutions. Thoughts on this?

+1 on borrowing first, I doubt we have time for creative services at this point. Thoughts on borrowing the integrations visuals?

I'm sure there is a ton more we can look at from elastic.co too

@alexfrancoeur Can you give me more info on what you think is off? Here is another version that edits down the text a bit and removes the duplicate use of "search".

@gchaps I think it would the duplicate "search". Your text looks great to me! I'll update the description with this

Updated the description. I think we're good on text and the URL route. @ryankeairns @MichaelMarcialis do we want to adjust the image or leave it as is? Either way, this would be a quick one for @cqliu1

I like the relationship this implies between add data and Ingest Manager. I'm good with using this one.

I'm fine repurposing that illustration, assuming the folks working on Ingest Manger don't mind (as I believe they are already using this illustration on the main page to Ingest Manager).

That's fine with me but @hbharding selected that graphic and he might have some input

We should also keep in mind that only the first person in (on a fresh install) will see this page, so it's minimal exposure.

If we keep the logic as is, I believe new spaces will also see this.
