Apparently this works really well in several corporate settings and is not prominent enough in several solutions.

a really nice refinement would be to put a timer on the hand-raise so you can see how long someone has been hanging around for.

In Fedora, we use matrix for many text-based meetings, too. I would love to see this feature not limited to video calls, but something that could be used in any room.

I get it for video or voice, but in text chats, don't you think threads or replies work?
